Cees de Joncheere
Dr Cees de Joncheere is the Chair of the Netherlands Antibiotics Development Platform, Vice-Chair of the Expert Advisory Group of the Medicines Patent Pool in Geneva, consultant to WHO on pharmaceutical policies, and currently President of the International Narcotics Control Board (2019-2020).
From 2012-2016 served as Director, Department of Essential Medicines and Health Products at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, which included work on AMR; WHO Representative, Kiev, Ukraine, (2011-2012); WHO Regional Adviser for Pharmaceuticals and Health Technologies, WHO Regional Office for Europe, Copenhagen, Denmark (1996-2010); from 1985 -1996 worked as Essential Drugs Programme Adviser with Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization in Brazil and Central America; and from 1981-1984 worked as pharmaceutical expert with the Netherlands Ministry of Development Cooperation in the Yemen Arab Republic.
Cees is a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Pharmacy, University of Groningen and University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands as well as a Masters in Business Administration, University of San Diego, United States of America/ San José, Costa Rica.
