Infection prevention and sustainable use of antibiotics in medical care
As a participant of the visit to the academic hospital Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in the historic city of Leiden, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and gain advise on multiple AMR-related themes in medical care. You will get the chance to find out all the ins and outs of the policy of Dutch hospitals on infection prevention and sustainable use of antibiotics.
The chair of the Dutch Working party on Antibiotic Policy (Dutch acronym SWAB) will welcome us to the LUMC. SWAB is a national foundation that aims to improve and optimize the careful and sustainable use of antibiotics in the Netherlands by setting guidelines. It strives to reduce and restrict the development of antimicrobial resistance and places a focus on surveillance.
Multiple practitioners will share their expertise with us and take us on an exclusive tour through the hospital, where we will gain insight into the activities and measures that are being taken to tackle AMR in the medical field. As a participant of this visit you will have the opportunity to gain insight into the established expertise. Of course there is always room for improvement, which is why you will also be encouraged to think collectively about new ways to improve the sustainable use of antibiotics. We strive to inspire all participants to strengthen the One Health approach and accelerate the implementation of their national action plans.
